Addie Talbott (Westport, Conn.) was playing at the Juniors Open Girls Showcase. Her team, Cruel Summer, was playing at 4:00 in the last game of the day, and almost everyone – including some of the coaches there to scout the event – had gone home.
The girls on the team had only met a couple days prior and already had more wins than anyone else at the tournament. It would have been easy not to play as hard, but that thought never crossed Talbot’s mind.
She relished every second of every showcase she attended.
“I just love lacrosse,” Talbott said. “While I’m being assessed from the sideline, I’m also just having the time of my life playing with some new teammates, meeting some from across the world.”
That level of passion is a big reason why when September 1 came around, Talbott – a midfielder, defender, and draw specialist for Staples High School – committed to play lacrosse at Syracuse University.
