One week after its MIAA Division 1 championship, St. John’s Prep learned that three of its players had been named to the Eastern Mass. Lacrosse Coaches Association All-America first team.
Seniors Michael Kelly and Michael Ayers, and sophomore Jimmy Ayers were the three players recognized. Lincoln-Sudbury, Acton-Boxborough and Division 2 champion Concord-Carlisle were the only other teams that had multiple players selected to the first team.
In all, 34 players were recognized on first and second teams, and 10 players were honored for sportsmanship.
Nate Kittler of Natick was honored as Coach of the Year after guiding his team to a 12-2 regular season and a berth in the D-1 South semifinals, where it lost to BC High. Jon Smith of Concord-Carlisle was named Assistant Coach of the Year, and Steve Marrow of Lincoln-Sudbury was named Person of the Year.
