It’s been a season of historic dominance for the MIT women.
Up until falling to Babson in a NEWMAC championship game slugfest, 13-10, MIT had suffered only two losses all season, to Roger Williams and perennial NESCAC powerhouse Tufts.
Even with that loss, MIT’s 16-3 record was enough for a berth into the NCAA Division 3 tournament for the first time since 2015. (The Engineers lost, 11-10, to visiting Trinity in the second round.)
Anne Versprille, a former All-Conference goalie at Springfield who has helmed the team for the last seven years, believes that the success of her squad this season has been the result of a program marching steadily toward excellence, bolstered to a breakthrough by a special group this spring.
