Even though it ended with a loss, there was a sense among the players on the Staples (Conn.) High School boys lacrosse team that the 2019 season was something special.
With a new young coach in Will Koshansky, the former Penn standout who spent seven years in the MLL, the Wreckers went 14-6. That included an overtime loss to Wilton in the FCIAC playoffs, an upset of Ridgefield in the Class L quarterfinals and a competitive loss to eventual champion Darien in the semis.
“I had so much fun on that team,” said defender Kevin Lynch, a sophomore on that team who is now a senior captain. “My older brother was a captain. My role was to learn from the seniors, bring it on the field and do the best I could, make sure the seniors had the best chance to succeed.”
