Risa Mosenthal is like many Division 1 lacrosse players in that she comes from a family rich in athletic tradition.
Only it was a different path than her two accomplished, ski-racing older sisters that led Mosenthal to a familiar destination in Rhode Island's capital city.
The Crampton, N.H. native grew up on the slopes of Waterville Valley like her sisters, Kia and Nika. She began skiing when she was 2 and soon enrolled in the mountain’s Mitey Mites pre-competition program. As Kia and Nika excelled in the sport – going on to race for Brown University – Risa dutifully trudged along in their wake, also expanding her athletic interests onto the lacrosse field.
As Risa approached her freshman year of high school, she came to a realization that was likely a long time in the making.
