DEVENS, Mass. — Drenched in sweat from performing in the 90-degree heat all day, Mike Shaw still had a big smile on his face around 3 p.m on Friday.
That's because he and his Central Kings squad just emerged from the 2020 AA division with a 5-4 win over Laxachusetts Black to capture the title for that bracket at the 2019 Legacy Invitational.
It was one of the best games of the day, not just in talent and skill level, but in dramatics. After Laxachusetts Black tied the score at 4 late in the final minutes, Kings cleared the ball and had a transition opportunity with just seconds left. From there, Trevor Ivatts scored on a feed from Jake Davis as time ran out to give the Kings the stunning win.
