Lacrosse on the Olympics stage? Maybe, but not as you know it

At the end of November, the International Olympic Committee officially recognized the sport of lacrosse.

In spite of the rhetoric that came out of that news, lacrosse fans need to understand one thing: Lacrosse never will be in the Olympic Games.

Oh, the IOC giving provisional recognition to the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) opens the door for the sport to be included in the Summer Games, potentially as soon as 2024 in Paris but almost certainly come 2028 in Los Angeles.

But whatever gets played at the Olympics, it will not be lacrosse as you know it.
