Sparked by high school teams, lacrosse continues surge in Madison, Conn.

Winning culture at Daniel Hand High School filters down to youth system

First, a bit of history and perspective: Daniel Hand High School is the high school in Madison, Conn. Everyone across the region refers to the school as “Hand.” Hand was one of the earliest schools in Connecticut outside of Fairfield County to establish high school lacrosse programs.

The early foundation of the Hand programs certainly helped pave the way for winning in the 1990s and 2000s. But what about now, with the rest of the cities and towns across the state catching up in terms of cementing good feeder programs and attracting the top athletes to lacrosse?

That makes the recent successes of the Hand teams all the more impressive.
