A club lacrosse coach called me this morning to ask me to speak at a camp this summer. He mentioned that, for some of their players, nutrition is the area with the greatest opportunity for improvement. With this in mind, the club is making nutrition more of a priority at camps, not only by hosting a presentation, but also by paying closer attention to the lunches that are offered by the host boarding school and by holding players accountable not to bring junk food with them. I love it!
Parents, coaches and lacrosse players of all ages are becoming more aware of how nutrition impacts performance and risk of injury, which is encouraging. Information is just a Google search away, yet it can be confusing at times, partly because there is conflicting information published and partly because trends change.
