Ipswich, Mass.

Deep roots, present-day success mark support in North Shore community

In some towns, lacrosse is a relatively recent phenomenon. Other towns led the way by blazing the trail with the early establishment of high school lacrosse programs.

Ipswich, Mass., is such a town.

High school lacrosse was established in Ipswich in 1967. Glenn Foster, coach of the boys program for the past 33 years, first played for the team as a freshman in 1969.

Looking back on the beginnings of his program, Foster spoke of the team’s first coach, Arthur Carey.
