NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The start of the Ivy League slate for Yale and Harvard on Saturday was yet another fitting battle, the latest chapter of their longtime rivalry.
Yale entered the day fresh off a road win against then-No. 1 Denver, while Harvard defeated reigning Big 10 champion Michigan for its biggest victory of the year. It was also the 105th meeting between the two storied teams.
The Bulldogs got out to a fast start, with an eight-goal first quarter highlighted by four assists from Matt Brandau, a hat trick from Carson Kuhl and a 9-1 faceoff margin courtesy of Machado Rodriguez.
They would push their lead to 13-5 at halftime and appeared to be thoroughly in control. But Harvard found a rhythm in the second half and fought back to within a goal, ultimately coming up just short, 17-15.
