Hingham finally gets over the hump

Jack Hennessey, Marc O’Rourke and a special Hingham team conquer Div. 2 to earn program’s first title in 15 years

By Marisa IngemiJuly 1, 2017

In Hingham, it’s been a long time coming.

For the past few seasons, the Harbormen have been one of the toughest teams to get past in Division 2. For two out of three years, the dynasty in Medfield was just barely able to do so.

Before matters played out the program’s way in June, however, Hingham hadn’t known what it felt like to get to the top. In fact, until 2017, it had been 15 years since the Harbormen could call themselves champions.

Though they would not get their shot at revenge against Medfield during their postseason run this time around, it would not matter, as they downed Longmeadow, 16-7, to capture a Div. 2 crown that had long eluded their grasp.
