After the 2020 high school season was canceled due to COVID-19, MIAA lacrosse returned in 2021 with a shortened and condensed season.
Most teams were relegated to playing an exclusively league-based regular season. This meant not only could they not venture out of the league for non-conference games, but they also were unable to see any out-of-state opponents.
This has changed in the past two seasons, and this upcoming 2024 season sees many MIAA teams both traveling to and hosting out-of-state teams.
And they're not alone.
