In 2016, Florida eighth-grader Caitlyn Wurzburger had a lacrosse season to remember.
Playing for the private school American Heritage-Delray, she was named the Sun Sentinel’s All-Palm Beach girls lacrosse Player of the Year after she scored 100 goals and tallied 103 assists.
According to the newspaper and the National Federation of State High School Associations’ record books, no player had ever accomplished a 100/100 season.
Additionally, Wurzburger — according to Laxmagazine.com — became the youngest recruit ever when she verbally committed to perennial NCAA tournament contender Syracuse.
While Wurzburger continues to live up to the hype, not everyone celebrated her recruitment milestone — and, due to a new rule recently passed, Wurzburger will retain that youngest recruit status.
