Cannons acquire Dave Lawson

After years of trying, Cannons finally land Dave Lawson — for fan favorite Will Manny — as they make playoff push

By Scott SouzaJuly 1, 2017

Dave Lawson has seemed like a natural fit for the Boston Cannons for years.

The Westford, Mass., native — a former Middlesex School standout — was a star at Duke University, where he was named a first-team All-American and helped lead the Blue Devils to the national title his senior season in 2013 with 36 goals and 17 assists.

The next year, he was selected to the U.S. men’s national team that competed in the FIL World Championship in Denver.

Bringing such a dominant local talent as the 6-foot-1, 203-pound midfielder home from the Rochester Rattlers to compete for the Cannons in Major League Lacrosse was a no-brainer. So Cannons general manager Kevin Barney tried.

And tried.

And tried.

And tried.
