BURLINGTON, Mass. – They say that games are often a tale of two halves. But this year’s MIAA Division 1 championship game was actually a tale of two quarters.
And St. John’s Prep just so happened to have the fourth quarter of the season in the title game to win its third consecutive state championship, 16-14, over BC High on Sunday.
“It’s a wild game,” said St. John’s Prep head coach John Pynchon. “Just so proud of these seniors. After (BC High) beat us up at our place, we had a pretty emotional meeting. We brought a photo in of the team last year, the seniors, and I said, ‘That was last year. Forget it.’ You wanna go get another one?'
"I’m just so proud of Matt Morrow, Jake Guertin and Gavin Kornitsky -- the whole group. It was a dramatic, great lacrosse game. BC High played outstanding.”
