Rockhoppers off to hot start
In their first full season of existence, the Boston Rockhoppers are off to a 3-1 start and in sole possession of first place in the National Indoor Lacrosse League (NALL). Most recently the Rockhoppers defeated the Baltimore Bombers last Sunday, in Baltimore 20-9 for their second straight win.
The Rockhoppers play their home games at the New England Sports Center, in Marlborough and have generated tremendous fan support in the two home games. In the home opener close to 2,000 fans saw the Rockhoppers fall to the Bombers 17-16 in overtime.
The following weekend just over 1,000 fans came out and saw the Rockhoppers' first ever home win against the Kentucky Stickhorses 16-9. The fans have enjoyed the fast paced, up and down action of box lacrosse. The six-on-six action is something fans enjoy as the action never stops.
A few Massachusetts locals are playing key roles in the teams' success. Mike Stone from Wellesley, MA had a monster game in Sunday's win, and Jon Hayes from Waltham, MA has been instrumental in the face off circle. Both players have also played professionally with the Boston Cannons.
The Rockhoppers have two home games coming up against the Rhode Island Kingfish -- Feb. 2 and Feb. 23 both games starting at 7:00 p.m. With two local teams in action it is sure to be a huge turnout. Fans can purchase tickets by visiting www.bostonrockhoppers.com.
