Cannons to hold open tryouts
by PR Wire Report/
The Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse have announced the 2012 Cannons Open Tryout presented by CroART Lacrosse and CATZ Sports Performance Center, giving local players the chance to earn an invitation to Cannons training camp and a potential roster spot for the 2012 season. The tryout will take place in March, with exact date, time and location to be announced at a later date.
“Boston is known for its huge population of college graduates and, whether they grew up in the area or moved here after school, that includes a significant number of lacrosse players, many of whom played at the highest collegiate level,” said Cannons General Manager Kevin Barney. “This tryout will give us the chance to get a look at some of the talent out there that we might not have seen otherwise.”
CATZ Sports Performance Center will implement a training and conditioning circuit to assess the players’ physical fitness before the Cannons coaching staff will run drills and game situations. Three tryout attendees will be invited to attend Cannons training camp, which takes place over three weekends in April. MLL teams can bring 40 players to training camp before cutting the roster to 25 active and six practice squad players prior to opening day, April 28.
All players interested in attending the 2012 Cannons Open Tryout must register in the MLL Player Pool by Dec. 1, 2011. Registration is available on the MLL website at: http://www.majorleaguelacrosse.com/news/3765/mll-opens-player-pool-registration/.
