'Boston Cannons Day' set for Monday

Boston mayor Thomas Menino will honor the Major League Lacrosse champion Boston Cannons on Monday, Sept. 12 at 3:30 p.m. in a ceremony at City Hall Plaza.
“As has been proven over the last decade, Boston is the best sports town in the country,” Menino said in a MLL press release. “I look forward to congratulating the latest team to add a championship to the city’s trophy case, the Boston Cannons.”
“We are honored by the invitation from Mayor Menino and the declaration of Boston Cannons Day,” said Cannons general manager Kevin Barney.
“The outpouring of support from our fans and the city has been amazing, and we look forward to continuing the celebration.”
