Blazers ready to face Buffalo
by Staff Report/
The Boston Blazers will travel to take on the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday night (7:30 p.m.) in what could be a preview of a National Lacrosse League first-round playoff matchup.
The Bandits (10-4) need to win just one of their two remaining regular-season games to secure the East’s No. 1 seed for the upcoming playoffs.
The Blazers (7-8) are locked in as the No. 4 seed and will face the top seed in the opening round.
Buffalo would also clinch the top seed if Toronto (10-5) loses against Edmonton.
Boston clinched a playoff spot with last weekend’s win against Philadelphia, as Dan Dawson led the way with five goals and two assists in the 9-7 victory.
For his efforts, Dawson was awarded the NLL’s Offensive Player of the Week Award.
Buffalo goaltender Mike Thompson won the Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts last weekend, making 36 saves against Toronto and 41 against Rochester.
Boston has dropped both of its matchups against Buffalo this season.
