Blazers suffer fifth-straight loss

The Boston Blazers suffered a 19-8 loss against Rochester on Saturday.
The Rochester Knighthawks rolled past the Boston Blazers in National Lacrosse League action at TD Garden on Saturday, picking up a convincing 19-8 victory.
With the win, Rochester improved to 7-5 and clinched an East Division playoff spot.
The Blazers suffered their fifth-straight loss to fall to 6-8.
Boston led 2-1 after one quarter but the Blazers were outscored 8-1 in the second quarter as Rochester took a commanding 9-3 lead at the half and never looked back.
Jordan Hall had four goals to lead Rochester, while Shawn Williams (three goals, three assists), Craig Point (three goals, two assists), Cory Vitarelli (three goals, assist) and Shawn Evans (two goals, five assists) also had big offensive outputs.
Rochester goalie Matt Vinc made 30 saves on 38 shots in the win.
For Boston, Dan Dawson, Casey Powell and Josh Sanderson had two goals apiece.
Anthony Cosmo made just 22 saves on 41 shots.
Boston’s loss, combined with Philadelphia’s win over East Division-leading Toronto leaves the Blazers with just a half-game lead for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East.
The Blazers will play host to Philadelphia in a critical contest on Saturday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m.
