Blazers return home to face Knighthawks
by Staff Report/
The Boston Blazers will face Rochester at TD Garden Saturday night.
The Boston Blazers will be looking to snap a four-game losing streak when they play host to the Rochester Knighthawks on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at TD Garden.
Rochester (6-5) has plenty on the line as a win over the Blazers would give the Knighthawks one of the two remaining playoff spots in the NLL’s East Division.
Rochester is a game ahead of the Blazers in the East standings and two games behind Buffalo. First-place Toronto and second-place Buffalo have already clinched playoff spots.
The game is critical for the Blazers as well, as Boston (6-7) had its losing streak stretched to four with a pair of losses against West Division teams last weekend.
The Blazers are 1.5 games ahead of Philadelphia for the final playoff spot in the East.
Boston’s four-game losing streak has put the Blazers in a precarious position.
Boston was defeated by Washington on Friday, 9-8, before dropping another 9-8 loss on Saturday, this time in overtime against Colorado.
The Blazers and Knighthawks have split their first two meetings of the season, with each team winning on the road.
On Jan. 22, Rochester defeated Boston at TD Garden, 11-10 in overtime as Cody Jamieson tied the score at 10-10 with six seconds left in regulation. Shawn Evans gave Rochester the win in OT.
On Jan. 29, the Blazers returned the favor in a 16-7 rout in Rochester as Casey Powell (four goals, five assists), Dan Dawson (four goals, two assists) and Josh Sanderson (six assists) led the way.
