Blazers suffer third-straight loss

The Boston Blazers dropped their third-straight game to fall to 6-6 with a 9-8 loss against the Washington Stealth on Friday night.
The Stealth won with a last-second goal from Rhys Duch to improve to 6-6 and secure a playoff spot in the National Lacrosse League’s West Division.
Washington took control of the game with a five-goal second quarter to lead 6-2 at the half.
Boston bounced back in the third quarter with a pair of goals, entering the fourth down 6-4.
The Blazers rallied all the way back with four goals in the fourth quarter, including Jamie Rooney’s game-tying tally with 1:25 remaining in regulation.
Boston’s comeback attempt was thwarted by Duch’s game-winning goal with 1 second remaining.
Washington was led by Lewis Ratcliff (two goals, assist), Paul Rabil (two goals) and Duch (goal, three assists).
The Blazers were paced by Rooney (four goals), Casey Powell (goal, two assists) and Josh Sanderson (five assists).
Blazers goaltender Anthony Cosmo stopped 41 of the 50 shots he faced. Washington’s Tyler Richards made 42 saves on 50 shots.
Boston returns to action Saturday night with a game at Colorado (9 p.m. ET).
