Rory Glaves, one of only two remaining original members of the Edmonton Rush, will return for another season with the National Lacrosse League club after signing a new one-year deal.

Edmonton Rush General Manager/Head Coach Derek Keenan announced the re-signing of Glaves, who has cemented himself as one of the top defenders in the NLL over the past four seasons.

"Rory has been as steady and solid as any of the league's best defenders and I expect that he will continue to provide the Rush with strong play and leadership this coming season," said Keenan.

A steadying influence on the Rush's back end, Glaves joined the Rush for the club's inaugural 2007 season and has missed only five games over his tenure in the black and silver.

In 2008, Glaves accepted the team award as the Rush's Top Defender. Last season, the six-foot, 195-pounder from Niagara Falls, Ont., played in all 16 regular-season games, picking up one goal and three assists plus 52 loose balls.

In 72 career regular-season games, Glaves has totaled eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points plus 192 loose balls.

The 28-year-old was originally the second overall pick in the 2004 NLL Entry Draft out of the Universityof Hartford. He played his first NLL campaign with Anaheimand was then acquired by the Rush in the 2006 NLL Dispersal Draft.

Prior to turning pro, Glaves won a pair of Minto Cup national junior 'A' championships in 2001 and 2003. He went on to win the 2005 Mann Cup national senior 'A' championship with the Victoria Shamrocks.
