Blazers, Cannons named to U.S. indoor team

U.S. Indoor Lacrosse has announced the roster for the U.S. Men's National Indoor Lacrosse Team which will compete in the 2011 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship in Prague, Czech Republic next May.

The roster was narrowed down following three tryout/exhibition weekends held in Wayne, NJ, Syracuse, NY and Baltimore, MD.

"The chance to represent the United States at this elite level is the ultimate honor in lacrosse," said USIL President and GM Graham D'Alvia. "I am honored and look forward to the opportunity to further develop this team that will represent our great country in this sport, both on and off the turf."

Members of both the Boston Blazers and Boston Cannons have been named to the U.S. team.

Blazers named to the team include Casey Powell, Greg Downing, Mitch Belisle, John Orsen and Jack Reid.

Blazers named to the reserve list include Sean Morris, Ryan Hotaling, Brett Queener and Greg Rogowski

Five players from the reserve list will be named to the World Team roster in February.

Cannons players named to the U.S. team include Kevin Buchanan, Paul Rabil, Belisle and Downing.

Cannons named to the reserve list include Patrick Heim.

The remainder of the Team USA roster includes Brian Langtry, Bill Mcglone, Brendan Mundorf, Drew Westervelt, Kyle Hartzell, Chris Schiller, Max Seibald, Matt Zash, Scott Ditzell, Eric Martin and Erik Miller.

The remainder of the Team USA reserve list includes Chris Panos, Matt Alrich, Jon Christmas, Jarett Park, Josh Funk, Anthony Kenny, Brett Manney, Steve Panarelli, Joe Smith, Ginny Capicchioni (Sacred Heart) and Mickey Hover.

The World Indoor Lacrosse Championship takes place at Tesla Arena in Prague, Czech Republic on May 21-28, 2011. Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, England, Finland, Ireland and the Iroquois Nationals will join the United States in the one-week tournament.
