The Daniel Webster College department of athletics has announced that Melissa Talamini has been named head coach of the Eagles field hockey and women’s lacrosse programs.

She has also served in coaching roles with both Framingham(Mass.) High School and Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua, N.H.

“As we continue with the steady development of both of these programs, we are excited Melissa has agreed to join us in that process,” said Director of Athletics John Griffith. “Melissa has exhibited the type of qualities we have sought for the position and we are confident both programs will continue to grow under her leadership.”

Talamini was equally enthusiastic about joining the Daniel Webster staff.

"I am very excited to be joining the Daniel Webster program," noted Talamini. "Both teams have made extraordinary progress in their short time as varsity programs. I look forward to continuing the goal of creating a winning atmosphere that will result in postseason success."

A native of Mendon, Mass., Talamini is a 2005 graduate of Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I., where she was a four-year letter winner with the women's lacrosse team and a three-year member of the field hockey squad.

With the Bryant lacrosse team, Talamini retired as the first 100-career goal scorer in program history, finishing as the team leader in scoring twice and helped the Bulldogs to a four year record of 42-26. A captain her senior season, she remains fifth all time in career goals, eighth in total points, first in career game winners, and second in games played.

A holistic health coach, Talamini also holds a certificate in Health Counseling from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, an affiliate of SUNY Purchase (N.Y.).

Talamini inherits both programs that will be heading into their third season of varsity play.
