Three Massachusetts players have been named to the United States U19 women’s national lacrosse team.

The 24-woman roster will train to compete in the 2011 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) U19 World Championships in Hannover, Germany.

U.S. Lacrosse's selection committee with head coach Krystin Porcella and her staff named three Massachusetts players to the national team: Madison Acton, a midfielder from Sudbury, Mass., Kelsey Duryea, a goalkeeper from Beverly, Mass., and Christine Ferguson, a defender from Weston, Mass.

"We're really excited about the talent of this group," said Porcella. "The level of play - physical and mental - and the athleticism of these girls was truly unbelievable all week. We can't wait to get to work this fall putting all of the pieces together."

Nathaniel Badder, US Lacrosse's national teams program director, noted: "The purity of these tryouts was really special. More than 165 girls came from 25 different states and the selectors were from 10 different states to make it a truly national event. Seeing the extraordinary level of enthusiasm and energy throughout the week was inspiring."

The team's next training session is at the US Lacrosse Stars & Stripes festival in Boston, Mass., Oct. 9-10.

The 2011 FIL World Championship will take place in Hannover, Germany, Aug. 3-13, 2011. In 2007, Team USA won the gold at the quadrennial event, beating Australia18-3 in Peterborough, Ontario.
