Matt Poskay and the Boston Cannons return to action on Saturday night against Toronto.
The Boston Cannons return to action Saturday night (7 p.m.) with a home game against the Toronto Nationals.
A win over Toronto will lock up a playoff spot for the Cannons, who sit atop the Major League Lacrosse standings with a 6-3 record.
Toronto (3-6) needs a win to keep its playoff hopes alive.
The Cannons have had two weeks off since their 16-10 win against Chesapeake on July 10.
Prior to the All-Star break, Boston suffered a 15-13 loss at Toronto, which snapped three-game winning streak at the time.
In that contest the Cannons were held scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Boston will be without four key players for Saturday night’s game, as Paul Rabil, Kyle Sweeney, Ryan McClay and Ryan Boyle are playing for Team USA in the 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse World Championships.
While Rabil and Boyle are among the MLL’s top 10 scorers, Boston does have the league’s No. 1 scorer in Matt Poskay, who has scored 39 points (34 goals) for the Cannons in 2010.
Also among the league’s top scorers is Cannons midfielder Kevin Buchanan, who has 27 points (17 goals) in 2010.
