Cannons to face Toronto on Thursday

by PR Wire Report/

The Boston Cannons will take to the road Thursday night (7 p.m.) for a game against the Toronto Nationals.

The Cannons are 5-2 and own the top record in Major League Lacrosse, while the Nationals are 2-5.

The game, to be played at Lamport Stadium, will be broadcast live on Comcast SportsNet New England.

Boston has won three straight entering Thursday’s game, including last Saturday’s wild 17-14 come-from-behind win over Long Island at Harvard Stadium.

Boston trailed by eight goals last week before rallying in the second half.

Goalkeeper Jordan Burke sparked the rally by stopping seven of the eight shots he faced in the second half, giving the Cannons time to mount their comeback. Burke earned MLL Defensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts.

Matt Poskay increased his MLL goal-scoring lead by notching six goals, giving him 34 points on the season.

Toronto has won two straight games after starting the season 0-5.

The Nationals defeated the Bayhawks last week, 17-14, as Garrett Billings had three goals and an assist, Corey Small added three goals, Kevin Huntley added two goals and two assists and John Grant Jr. and Jordan Hall had two goals and an assist each.
