by Roger Brown/
The Cheshire (Conn.) boys lacrosse team, which beat rival Fairfield Prep 9-8 in the Class L state championship game on Saturday, received more good news Monday, when three Rams were among the 15 Connecticut players named to the United States Lacrosse All-America team.
Senior attackman Todd Heritage, junior defender Torrey Martone and senior goalkeeper Nate Gaudio were the Cheshire players honored. Heritage, who collected a state-high 140 points (55 goals) last season, is headed to Bucknell, and Gaudio will attend Middlebury College.
Two Fairfield Prep seniors were also selected: attackman Brendan Rotanz, who will attend Dartmouth, and defender Darric White, who will be going to Middlebury.
Michael Jordan and Nick Carisio were the offensive stars for Cheshire (21-2) in Saturday’s state championship game. Each player scored three goals to help Cheshire collect its second state title (the first came in 2002). It was the third time Cheshire defeated Fairfield Prep (17-5) this season.
Fairfield Prep won the last four Class L championships.
