Quinzani's goal sends Duke into finals

Duke University senior Max Quinzani (Duxbury, Mass.) delivered the game-winning goal with 12 seconds remaining as the Blue Devils upset top-ranked Virginia, 14-13, in front of 44,389 fans at the NCAA men's lacrosse semifinals on Saturday at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium.

The fifth-seeded Blue Devils (15-4) advance to Monday's NCAA championship game against Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. Monday’s game will be Duke’s third title game appearance.

Quinzani finished with four goals to lead the Blue Devils.

Duke sophomore CJ Costabile (New Fairfield, Conn.) tallied his third goal of the year while senior Sam Payton (Cos Cobb, Conn.) was 15-for-23 on faceoffs with six ground balls.

Quinzani improved his scoring streak to 65 games. He has scored at least three goals in 15 games this season and in 37 times in his career. He is now third in career goals in tournament games with 33.
