Duke University sophomore CJ Costabile (New Fairfield, Conn.) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, April 18.
Costabile won 10 of 13 faceoffs, picked up four ground balls and added an assist to lead No. 5 Duke to a 13-9 victory over top-ranked Virginia.
This is Costabile’s first ACC weekly honor of his career and the second for the Blue Devils this season. The long stick midfielder won 77 percent of his faceoffs against the Cavaliers, which had previously won 57 percent of restarts coming into the game.
A preseason second team All-America selection, Costabile added four ground balls and provided the game-winning assist after winning a faceoff and picking up a ground ball.
For the season, Costabile is 54-of-100 in faceoffs for a .540 win percentage. He ranks third on the team in ground balls with 46.
