Cannons to open against Outlaws

The Boston Cannons won't have to wait for their first shot at revenge this season.
Led by last year's league Most Valuable Player Paul Rabil, the Cannons will take on the Denver Outlaws in their season opener at Harvard Stadium May 15. The Cannons’ 2009 season came to end with a 11-10 defeat to the Outlaws in the Major League Lacrosse semifinals.
“We are excited to open our season schedule with a home game at Harvard Stadium against the Denver Outlaws,” said Mark Kastrud, the Cannons' vice president and general manager. “Denver has been one of the top teams in the league the past few years so we will be able to see from the start where we stand up to the rest of the league.”
The Cannons finished 6-7 last season and will be motivated to avenge their losses, each of which was by one goal. Three of those defeats came in their final four games, including the playoff loss to Denver.
All six Cannons’ home games this season will take place on Saturdays. The June 12 game vs. Denver will be the Cannons first afternoon home game, with a 3 p.m. start time.
The Cannons' 12-game schedule features six games at Harvard Stadium. It is the 10th Anniversary Season for MLL and the Cannons.
Harvard Stadium will also be the site of the 2010 MLL All-Star Game on Thursday, July 8. The MLL All-Stars will take on the United States national team as it prepares for the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England.
