by Staff Report/

Max Seibald, who led Cornell to the NCAA Division 1 championship game and won the Tewaaraton Trophy this year, will play indoor lacrosse for the Blazers.

Boston selected the versatile midfielder with the eighth pick in the National Lacrosse League draft Wednesday night in Buffalo, N.Y.

Known for his leadership qualities, tenacity, grit, speed, strength, and skill, Seibald scored 141 points during his college career, the most by a Cornell midfielder. He reportedly has run a 4.38 40-yard dash and has had shots recorded at 106 miles per hour.

A native of Hewlett, N.Y., Seibald was chosen second overall by Denver in the 2009 Major League Lacrosse collegiate draft and scored nine goals in 10 games.

Sid Smith of Syracuse, which rallied to defeat Cornell in overtime for the NCAA crown on Memorial Day at Gillette Stadium, was chosen first overall by Rochester. Minnesota selected Bryant's Zack Greer with the No. 3 pick.

Matt Abbott, whose behind-the-back pass set up Syracuse's tying goal with four seconds left in regulation in the final against Cornell, was the Blazers' second-round pick.
