New Englanders compete at UA Games

Matt White (Ridgefield, Conn.) recorded a game-high six points (4 goals, 2 assists) to lead the North squad in a 19-16 loss to the South team in the Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Game June 27 in Baltimore.
Hakeem Lecky (Duxbury, Mass.) and David Lawson (Westford, Mass./Middlesex School) also represented New England on the North team.
In the girls game, a 12-9 victory for the North, Courtney Bennett (Darien, Conn.), Jess Griffin (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury), Kelsey Johnson (Hingham, Mass./Thayer Academy) and goalie Kaitlin Gaiss (North Andover, Mass./Phillips Andover) were members of the victorious squad.
In the Under Armour Underclassmen Games held June 27-28 in Baltimore, the New England boys won twice in four games and finished in fifth place.
(The tournament is improperly named, as it is open to all non-seniors in high school, while by definition an underclassman is only a freshman or sophomore.)
The New England girls underclass squad captured seventh place, winning one game.
The New England boys went 1-3 in pool play, sandwiching a 10-9 victory over Baltimore between a 12-4 loss to Upstate New York and a 6-5 loss to Philadelphia. New England beat New Jersey in overtime, 9-8, in the fifth-place game.
Long Island captured the tournament title, defeating Upstate New York in the championship game, 8-5. Long Island's Will Himler was named tournament MVP.

The New England girls lost all three games in pool play, bowing to Upstate New York (8-6), Baltimore (20-12) and Philadelphia (12-11). New England beat Midwest, 15-5, in the seventh-place game.
Baltimore won the tourney title with a 15-12 victory over Long Island. Baltimore's Cavie Stanwick was named tourney MVP.
