US women to meet Aussies in final
by Staff Report/
PRAGUE - Mother Nature provided the lightning, but only after the United States thundered to a 7-0 lead.
Sarah Bullard of Needham, Mass., the team's youngest player, scored twice and was named Player of the Match for her solid performance between the lines as the US dominated England, 20-3, in a Women's World Cup semifinal Thursday.
The US will have a chance to avenge a loss to Australia in the 2005 final when it takes on the Aussies Saturday in the gold-medal game.
The delay that stopped play at 18:36 of the first half didn't cool off the US, which raced to a 15-2 halftime lead.
Sarah Albrecht of Braintree, Mass., scored four goals on five shots for the US, and Katie Rowan led the scoring with three goals and five assists.
Bullard, who will be a junior at Duke next season, will turn 21 on Aug. 14.
