Six Cannons named to All-Star rosters
by PR Wire Report/
The Boston Cannons, who have made a good deal of noise of late with two straight lopsided victories, will be well represented at the Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game.
Paul Rabil, who has been named MLL Offensive Player of the Week twice this season, is one of six Cannons who have been selected to play in the league's eighth All-Star contest, which will take place July 16 in Denver.
Rabil's teammates on the Young Guns team will include Cannons midfielder Greg Downing and Boston defenseman Ray Megill.
The Cannons named to the Old School squad are attackman Ryan Boyle, defenseman Kyle Sweeney, and goalie Michael Levin.
The "old" versus "young" format was also featured in the 2005 All-Star Game, which also took place in Denver. The Young Guns squad consists of players who came into the league after 2006.
The Denver Outlaws and Toronto Nationals lead all teams with eight players apiece named to All-Star Game rosters.
Denver attackman Brendan Mundorf, who is tied with Rabil for the league lead with 24 points, along with midfielders Brian Langtry and Kyle Harrison, and defenseman Lee Zink will represent the Outlaws on the Old School team, and attackman Drew Westervelt, rookie midfielder Max Seibald, defenseman Matt Bocklett, and goalie Jesse Schwartzman will suit up for the Young Guns. Denver coach Brian Reese and his assistants Trevor Tierney and Bill Edell will coach the Old School team.
For Toronto, midfielder Joe Walters and defenseman Brodie Merrill will take the field for the Old School, and attackman Merrick Thomson, midfielders Jordan Levine and Jordan Hall, defensemen Joe Cinosky and rookie Sid Smith, as well as goaltender Brett Queener will represent the Nationals on the Young Guns. Toronto coach Dave Huntley will coach the Young Guns. Chicago coach John Combs will serve as Huntley's assistant.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2. A skills competition will take place at halftime.
